Travel Medicine Workshop For Registered Nurses
Do you know enough travel medicine to help your patients? This workshop will give you practical 'hands on' information you can use immediately. Topics have been based on feedback from fellow RN's - learn the latest on:
- Vaccines: decreasing patients anxiety, picking those at risk before they faint, side effects and how to minimise them, dealing with side effects, signing vaccine records
- Malaria: new medications, malaria test kits, permethrin and other prevention strategies
- Health Education: motion sickness, jetlag, rabies, women's problems
- Travellers First Aid: what to recommend and how they should be used
Here are some sample questions from our workbook:
- If the recommended intervals between vaccine doses is exceeded, do you have to 'restart' the course?
- Who is most likely to faint after injections, and how common is it ?
- What strategies can you employ to decrease a persons anxiety when they must have an injection?
- What 6 pieces of information need to be recorded in the persons international vaccination book when you administer a vaccine?
- What 4 pieces of information need to be recorded in the persons chart when you administer a vaccine?
Course Fees
The cost of this course is $75 per participant (minimum of 20 participants), and the course fee includes:
- 2 hours of interesting and relevant information on Travel Medicine and how you can provide a better service to your travelling patients.
- Course workbook
- Reference book, Travelling Well (value $20)
- Travelling Well Fun Book, a children's travel health education book (value $10)
